Biography of Robert James Henry

Painter and SculptorBorn in 1942, most of my life has been dedicated to the Arts, in particular, Painting and Sculpture. I shall continue to learn and create for the rest of my existence.

My introductory training in the Arts was taken at the Art Institute and the Carnegie Institute of Technology, College of Fine Arts in Pittsburgh, PA. At Carnegie, clay, marble and plaster casting techniques of sculpturing were learned. At the Art Institute the art of Drawing from Life, specifically the charcoal and Conti technique was accomplished under the tutoring of Russian Master Vincent Nesbitt.

Studies in painting and sculpturing were taken at the Venice Studios in California. Copying and creative painting techniques from Old Masters was taught in a workshop environment where mixing of oil colors was made from dry pigments. This latter was very beneficial to those students who wish to learn from instructors, craftsmen and artists, both local and international. Additional tutoring was taken in sculpturing and the casting in bronze, utilized the "lost wax" technique.

Subsequent and various teaching experiences during the past years have allowed me to perfect my capabilities in the Arts.
